How to Add DMARC Record in cPanel ?

A DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) record helps protect your domain from email spoofing and phishing. It works together with SPF and DKIM.

Steps to Add a DMARC Record

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Go to Domains → Zone Editor.
3. Find your domain and click Manage.
4. Click Add Record and select TXT.
5. Enter the following details:

Name:

_dmarc.yourdomain.com

Type:

TXT

Record/Value:

v=DMARC1; p=none;

6. Click Save Record.

Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name.

Recommended DMARC Policies

For initial setup, we recommend:

v=DMARC1; p=none;

This is a monitoring policy and does not instruct receiving servers to block messages.

After confirming that your legitimate email sources are correctly configured with SPF and DKIM, you can consider stronger policies such as:

v=DMARC1; p=quarantine;

or

v=DMARC1; p=reject;

Important

Make sure SPF and DKIM are properly configured before enforcing p=quarantine or p=reject, otherwise legitimate emails may be affected.

If your domain's DNS is managed by Cloudflare or another third-party DNS provider, add the DMARC record there instead of cPanel.
